De vorm van het Huis dat ik bouwde is een schets, een getekend Huis geworden. Het materiaal, tweedehands hout en de vale kleur verwijzen naar verlies en vergankelijkheid. De geur is van naftaline, een soort kamfer, conserveert de herinneringen, houdt deze gevangen in de poriën van het Huis.
Nadat je door de deuropening gaat heeft het huis een andere maat dan voordat je er binnen treedt. Het huis is smaller, kleiner, alsof je na jaren een kamer binnenkomt die je je herinnert uit de tijd dat je klein was, hij lijkt gekrompen. Het kunstwerk ontstaat op het moment dat je er doorheen gaat. Het gaat mij om de ervaring, om de relatie tussen de bezoeker en het werk.
This House turned out to be a 3D-drawing, in wood. The material, mainly used wood, and the faded colours point to loss and decay. There is a slight smell of naphthalene, or camphor, to preserve the memories, and capture these in the pores of the House.
After entering throught the front-door you realise the dimensions are quite different than they appeared from the outside. Everything is more narrow, smaller, like when you enter a room that you remember from childhood - it appears to have shrunken. Therefore this piece of art comes into existence after entering the installation. It only comes to life when one is inside, for this is all about the relationship between the object and the visitor.

Bij de entree hangt deze foto die dient als eerste aanzet tot de vraag of het Huis bescherming biedt.
Het Huis oogt transparant, terwijl er van transparantie niet echt sprake is, eerder worden er vragen opgeroepen.
Looking at the photograph on one of the walls ( entitled 'Uncle') the question comes to mind whether this House does offer the protection that it should give.

Het Huis is beschreven in een boekje dat is uitgegeven onder USBN nr....In dit werk maak ik een dwaaltocht langs de geheimen van het Huis. Werkelijkheid en verbeelding vloeien in elkaar over.
Aan de hand van bezoekers, allen bestaande kunstenaars die ik op deze weg ben tegengekomen, laat ik mij door het grote Huis leiden. Ze zijn puzzelstukjes bij de vraag hoe belangrijk een Huis is in het leven van een mens: is er aandacht voor elkaar, biedt een Huis bescherming of leven we langs elkaar heen, ondergedoken en ongezien.
In de loop van het verhaal verandert het Huis, maar blijft dit dwalen een zoektocht naar de vraag of het leven in het Huis geborgenheid biedt.
An extensive description is laid down in a booklet. In this I roam around the secrets of this House. Reality and imagination become fluid. Artists who have been important to me escort me through the House. They help me in finding answers to questions about the importance of a House: do the people whe live there pay attention to each other, does it offer protection or do theyjust live their own lives, go their own way, unnoticed, in hiding.
In the booklet the House changes, there is some metamorphosis but the question about safety and protection remains unanswered.
